Spiced Oatmeal Cookies with Raisins

- 3 cups flour
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups raisins
- 1½ cups water
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 12 oz bag chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat oven to 375° Prepare cookie sheets by either lining them with a baking mat, parchment paper, or by lightly greasing.
With a wooden spoon, mix flour, oatmeal, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
In a large saucepan, mix sugar, water, oil and baking soda and bring to a boil. Boil for 4 minutes. Pour hot mixture into flour mixture. Stir until completely combined.
Using a tablespoon, scoop out dough onto prepared cookies sheet. Cookies will spread, so leave about 2 inches between each cookie. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes. Store in an air tight container.
