Whole Wheat Applesauce Cookies

With whole wheat flour and applesauce, can we call these cookies healthy? I hope so, because they taste AMAZING!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white flour
  • cup whole wheat flour
  • tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp allspice
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups applesauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375° and prepare cookie sheets by lining them with a baking mat, parchment paper, or greasing them.
  • In your mixer (or a large bowl), combine the butter, eggs, vanilla and brown sugar. Mix for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine both flours, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, baking powder, nutmeg, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Alternate adding 1 cup of flour mixture and 1 cup of applesauce to your butter/sugar mixture, until everything is completely combined. Mix in chocolate chips. Dough will be very wet, unlike most cookie dough. It will be more like the consistency of brownie batter.
  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto your prepared cookie sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. These cookies expand as they bake. Bake cookies at 370° for 10 mins. The edges will be slightly brown.
