How to Cook Barley on the stove

Barley is a delicious and healthy whole grain. It's easy to make and can be added to a variety of recipes, like soups and salads.

The downside is that it takes longer to cook than other grains. Using the Instant Pot is the best way to cut down cooking time.

Step 1

Start by rinsing  the uncooked barley under cool water.

Step 2

Add water and dry barley to pot on the stove. Bring to a boil over high heat.

Step 3

Lower the heat to a simmer and COVER the pot.  Pearl Barley will simmer for about 25 mins, while hulled barley will need 40.

Step 5

Serve and Enjoy!
